Level Progression Policy
Placement is done through a video-supervised online exam; level progression is measured through 90% attendance + 60/100 quiz average + live speaking check criteria and managed through a transparent system that protects quality.
The purpose of this section is to define in a measurable, transparent, and standardized system at which level students will start at Campus German and how they will progress to the next level.
This system protects two critical goals:
- Education quality: Level transition is not “automatic,” but truly earned.
- Student satisfaction: Students are not started from the wrong level and overwhelmed or unnecessarily repeated.
Placement Test — General Framework
Placement at Campus German is done through two methods:
Online Placement Test (Standard Method)
- The placement test is conducted online.
- The test is conducted under video supervision.
- Purpose: to objectively determine the student’s starting level.
Advantage of the Online Test:
- Students clarify their level before the course starts
- Are placed in the correct class
- Time loss at the start of the course decreases
Face-to-Face Placement Test (Alternative Method)
If the student cannot take the online test or cannot do it technically:
- Placement is done face-to-face at the school.
Note: Placement is mandatory to ensure correct placement.
Placement Logic (Starting at the Right Level)
Based on the placement result, students are placed in appropriate sub-courses:
- A1.1 / A1.2
- A2.1 / A2.2
- B1.1 / B1.2
- B2.1 / B2.2
- C1.1 / C1.2
Principle
It is not correct to start students from below “to make it easy” or from above “to make it fast.” The goal is to find the right point where students will both be challenged and grow.
Course Transition (Level Progression) — Final Criteria Set
At Campus German, transition to the next level depends on meeting 3 conditions together.
1. Attendance Criterion (Mandatory)
- Attendance in classes during the course must be at least 90%.
Purpose of attendance: Language learning requires “routine.” If attendance drops, quality drops and students struggle in the next course.
Hybrid attendance note: Online attendance in mandatory situations is accepted as attendance.
2. Academic Criterion (Mandatory)
- The average of quizzes/assessment tools conducted during the course must be at least 60/100.
What does this criterion measure?
- Whether vocabulary, grammar, and reading-listening fundamentals are settled
- Whether course goals are met at a minimum level
3. Speaking Criterion: Speaking Check (Mandatory)
- A live speaking evaluation conducted by the teacher is done at the end of the course.
- The evaluation is conducted face-to-face or via video call live.
Speaking Check Evaluation Categories:
- Comprehensibility (pronunciation/accent management)
- Fluency (rhythm of speech)
- Accuracy (basic grammar errors)
- Vocabulary use (daily and target words)
- Communication skill (ability to answer, ask questions, maintain dialogue)
Purpose: Not just that students “know,” but that they can use the language.
How Is the Course Transition Decision Made?
The course transition decision is made through the combined evaluation of:
- Attendance percentage
- Quiz average
- Speaking check result
Important Principle
- Even if attendance and quiz are good, if speaking performance is below the minimum goal, students may struggle in the next course.
- Therefore, the speaking check makes the system “usage-oriented” rather than “exam-oriented.”
What Happens If Criteria Are Not Met? (Development Plan)
If students cannot meet the criteria, the process is managed not like a “penalty,” but like a development plan.
Development Plan Content
- Areas where the student is lacking are clearly written (vocabulary/grammar/speaking/attendance)
- Students are offered a recommendation plan to follow until the next course start
- Speaking club participation is especially encouraged if needed
Guidance
- Students are directed to an appropriate next start date
- The goal is to “strengthen the foundation” through repetition at the right level
Official Holidays and Lesson Number Protection
At Campus German:
- Classes are not held on official holidays
- Makeup classes are held
- The total number of lessons is definitely protected
In this way, the student’s course goal is not weakened due to missing classes.
Special Situations (Standardized Approach)
If Students Miss Class
Even if students miss a class:
- They can follow the class online with the hybrid model
- They can complete their homework
- They can maintain the rhythm
Visa Delay
If students experience a visa delay:
- They can attend classes online without losing the course process
- They can join physical classes from the moment they arrive in Germany
Summary
At Campus German, placement is done through a video-supervised online test; level progression is measured through 90% attendance + 60/100 quiz average + live speaking check criteria and managed through a transparent system that protects quality.
Important: Course transition is not automatic. All criteria must be met together. This system protects education quality and ensures students transition to levels they are truly ready for.
